TCST - Trauma and Crime Scene Technician

Course Description

The Trauma and Crime Scene Technician provides specific information for the proper maintenance and cleaning of trauma and crime scenes. Emphasis is placed on health and safety requirements (including the hands-on donning and doffing of PPE and creating a hazard assessment of the area), structural remediation (cleaning and demo), contents remediation (cleaning and disposal), and the cleaning and disposal of vehicles and industrial machinery (including lockout/tagout and working with industrial site officers). Cleaning and demo equipment will be discussed along with the laws regarding hazardous waste, transport, storage, and disposal.

About The Instructor

Mark Cornelius

IICRC Course Instructor (TCST)

His career started in the carpet cleaning industry in 1982 and Mark literally grew up in the restoration industry holding different positions within several companies including VP of a restoration firm where he worked for 11 years. Mark Cornelius is still currently active in the field, founding D.R.I. Inc. in 2001. He currently instructs IICRC approved AMRT, WRT, FSRT, OCT, CCT, TCST, HST-EQU - OSHA 10 /30 general industry safety classes.

Passionate for learning and sharing knowledge he became an IICRC approved instructor in 2007. He was a contract instructor for a large equipment manufacturer traveling the US & Canada. Mark founded EMTA in 2014 authoring all curriculums/presentations with safety being chapter one. Mark travels all over the US and around the world teaching hundreds of students every year, including many private classes and consulting. Mark has two instructors on staff and adding more each year. His unique combination of qualifications includes IICRC triple master, Volunteer NPQ 1 fire fighter, EMT-I, NPQ-level-1 fire instructor and one of the first in the world holding ANSI accredited IICRC MRS certification. Mark also participated in the Beta test for the MRS exam. Mark has served on the OCT, FSRT, Trauma and now AMRT technical advisory committees (TAC). He has also served on several board of directors including 11 of 13 years with his fire department. Mark holds a blackbelt in Taekwondo. Mark has a daughter, Alexandra and son Devon. Mark and his wife Rashelle have been married since 1991.
